The story of the icon

The Virgin of Blaherniotissza is the "Icon of the Sign" which comes from the Transfiguration monastery, was made in about 1124. Today it is in the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow. It's objects the manifestation of the Word of God. The silhouette of the arms of the standing Virgin reminds to a chalice the picture of Immanuel van be seen in it, as well as in it liturgical chalice.
